Democrats

Democrats

This is a serious question. Does anyone really know what today’s Democrat truly is? I don’t mean the Democrat Party. We know what they are. They are the A-Zero-C and Bernie Sanders group of Whacko’s………the riot-and-burn-down-buildings crowd. I mean the Democrats, the main-line Americans, who make up the majority of the Democrat VOTERS, not necessarily the Democrat BALLOTS.

I don’t think the Dems of whom I speak can be described as “The Base.”  I think that they are more a sub-set of “The Base.”  I may be wrong, but if you gave this sub-set a couple of Valiums and asked them some questions you’d find out that:

The border should be controlled.

Government is too big and controlling.

Government spending is out of control and the National Debt will kill us.

Elections need to be honest.

We need a strong economy and should be protected from unfair trade practices.

There really is a SWAMP.

The Leadership of BOTH parties really sucks and only works in THEIR interests.

The sub-set of Dems really agrees with a lot of people, who might call themselves “Republican.”

Oh, oh. What is that last point? Are there really a bunch of Dems and Republicans, who might agree with each other and not necessarily with their respective Party Leadership? Hmmmm.

Of course, there are issues, such as Abortion, where the agreement gap between Dems and Republicans is quite wide. But why is that? Is that GAP real or is it ARTIFICIALLY INFLATED by BOTH sides? Are these “wedge issues” designed to keep those people, who might think for themselves and have a little common sense, tied down to their “Leadership”? We’ve all heard the term “wedge issues” used when discussing inter-party relationships. But are “wedge issues” also applied to intra-party control?

What might happen if “common sense” people on both sides got together and compared notes over a couple of beers? Might the world change? Is that what party leadership is really afraid of? That their gravy train might end?

If you have friends in the “other” party, show this writing to them. Ask them what they think. The following dialog might be the most interesting thing that happens to you all year.
