Racine, Wisconsin – March 17, 2025 – H.O.T. Government, a nonpartisan watchdog group, is rattling cages in Wisconsin. Teaming up with patriot groups statewide, H.O.T. is launching an informational campaign to expose the alarming backroom deals behind SB 28 for what it is: a blatant attempt to hand over control of Wisconsin’s energy infrastructure to a handful of powerful utility companies at the expense of consumers.

If passed, SB 28 would eliminate competition in transmission projects, allowing incumbent utility companies to dictate prices, stifle innovation, and drive-up electricity bills for hardworking Wisconsin residents.

Follow the Money: Energy Companies Buying Votes

SB 28’s biggest backers aren’t the people of Wisconsin—they’re the energy giants bankrolling state politicians. Campaign finance records reveal that Wisconsin lawmakers backing SB 28 have received substantial donations from utility companies that stand to profit from the bill’s passage. This pay-to-play politics is putting corporate interests ahead of the people.

H.O.T. Government has already identified a “Dirty Dozen”(see attached flyer)—a list of legislators who have taken significant contributions from utility companies while supporting SB 28. And this is just the beginning.

Call to Action: Stop SB 28

SB 28 is currently under review by the Senate Committee on Utilities and Tourism, and the people of Wisconsin must act now. Contact your legislators and demand they vote NO on SB 28 to protect fair competition, lower energy bills, and prevent corporate monopolization.
